Xeum – Musician Early influences from a composer father and growing up around many musical instruments, led xeum to cultivate a myriad of musical experiences from a young age. Singing at age 5 and starting the violin at age 6, Xeum then progressed to piano and clarinet studies. He wrote and performed his own, original compositions as early as age 10, before taking up drums and percussion studies at age 14. At the prestigious Versailles then Paris Conservatory of Music, Xeum continued to develop his natural talent into a deeper knowledge and understanding of music, studying under renowned musicians like Lionel Postollec from the Paris Opera Orchestra, Sylvio Gualda and Frederic Macarez ( Paris Orchestra timpany soloist)). In he meanwhile he took up music analysis and composition studies with Solange Ancona and performed his own composition, Ia-V for vibraphone and tape in Paris Superior Conservatory during the annual International festival, 'Journees de la percussion' in 2004. After graduating from the Versailles Music Conservatory, Xeum entered The Paris Conservatory and toured extensively as a member of the French Air Force Brass Band, playing in the great halls of Europe reaching as far as Moscow. He has performed in world renown venues as Budapest Opera and Paris Chatelet theater. He has many performances to his credit, including engagements with Pasdeloup orchestra (Mogador theater), the Paris Symphonieta, Ostinato orchestra for the 'Classique au Vert' festival. In 2002, Xeum recorded a modern rendition of Nicole Philba's (1937): Nuées Ardentes for bassoon, strings & percussion Orchestra (with Trio Joachim from Paris Opera Orchestra) directed by Jean-François Verdier (Première recording). In between tour dates, Xeum continued to broaden his repertoire with studies in jazz composition and arrangement alongside Marc Bercowitz and played with jazz musicians such as saxophon player Eric Prost and singer Sapho (Barcelona,2004). He then progressed to studio recordings diverse collaboration in Paris with the likes of urban arists OxmoPuccino, Nuttea (EMI) DJ Sek (Mathematic beats, Delabel EMI)). 2005 brought Xeum to Shanghai to perform at Luna (Xintiandi), playing drums and live electronic music with the band, Goldfishes.
